Women in GovTech Challenge
2023-2024

Join and be empowered to lead digital government.

Master the necessary skills to develop citizen-centric digital government services, learn technical and soft skills, and accelerate your GovTech career. Tailored for women in government digital teams, participants will get guided support to develop their own digital services that can be implemented in their countries. Top projects will be showcased at the World Summit in the Information Society (WSIS) 2024 (dates to be announced).

What you get

The program will cover:

  • Technical Skills – the building block approach to create digital services, manage agile teams, and more
  • Soft Skills – communicate effectively, teamwork, critical thinking, and more
  • Career Management – people management, decision-making, and more

At the end of the Challenge, successful participants will:

  • have a thorough understanding of the GovStack building block approach;
  • implement a digital government service in their country;
  • access to GovStack and complementary content through Atingi and Coursera ;
  • receive university credits upon completion of Coursera courses;
  • have opportunities to showcase digital services in international fora, like WSIS 2024; and,
  • join an active community of empowered women digital leaders.

Join us

Criteria for participants:

  • Women working in government digital teams, in roles such as solution architects, developers, service designers, regtech, cybersecurity specialists, among other GovTech domains
  • Pre-identify a service that can be implemented as a digital government service using the GovStack building block approach
  • Comfortable in English
  • Stable internet connection
  • Available to participate in 1 hour of group activities with peers and mentors and 4-6 hours of self-paced course work per week during the training period

Criteria for mentors:

  • Women working at senior levels in GovTech, including solution architects, developers, service designers, regtech, cybersecurity specialists, among other GovTech domains
  • Comfortable in English
  • Stable internet connection
  • Able to commit 1 hour every two weeks

Timeline

Applications open: 28 April - 31 August 2023
  • Participants and mentors can apply via form
Selection of participants: 1 Sept - 31 Oct 2023
  • Participants will be selected by an international panel composed of GovStack staff and experts
Training: 1 Nov 2023 - 28 Feb 2024
  • 8-10 weeks of trainings spread over 4 month period, with breaks for holidays
  • Online trainings
  • Virtual group meetings held with other participants and mentors
  • Work on service design projects
Present final projects: Spring 2024
  • GovStack Women in GovTech graduates announced
  • Final projects to be showcased at WSIS 2024
  • Top projects will be invited to present in-person at WSIS 2024
